Seafront loos that were damaged in a fire will cost £10,000 to repair.

The toilets next to The White House Indian restaurant in The Broadway, Minster, were closed by Swale council after a fire at the end of last month.

The toilets were ruined in the blaze and the inside of the building was smoke-damaged.

A council spokesman said: “We’re currently waiting to hear from our insurers to approve getting to work on rectifying the damage, which will cost in the region of £10,000.

“The fire service report identified the cause as rubbish being deliberately set alight, and the damage has been reported to the police to investigate.”

The council has asked anyone with information to hand it to police quoting the crime reference number, 46/16427/23.

It is not the first time the conveniences have been damaged.
