Flying the flag for Forces in Beach Street, Sheerness

Flag raising at Beach Street, Sheerness, ahead of Armed Forces' Day

A flag recognising the work of the Armed Forces was raised on Monday.

Mayor of Swale Cllr Sue Gent did the honour at Beach Street, Sheerness, in preparation of Armed Forces Day on Saturday.

Veterans from the Royal British Legion watched the ceremony at 10am.

Cllr Gent has chosen Help The Heroes and the Sittingbourne branch of the British Legion to raise money for this year.

Swale council’s seafront officer, Ian Arnell, said: “It is important to recognise the Armed Forces.”

The flag will remain up for one week.
