A lawyer has organised a family fun day to raise money for three inspirational children.

Karina Chetwynd, from Leysdown, is hosting the Big Event on Saturday, July 27.

It is to support four-year-old Oliver Smith from Minster, who has the childhood cancer, neubroblastoma, 12-year-old Thierry LeMasonry-Bennett from Sheerness, who is raising money for a performing arts scholarship and horse-rider Courtney Beaurain, 15, from Sittingbourne, who hopes to one day compete in the Olympics.

Mrs Chetwynd, who works at Sheerness solicitors John Copland and Sons, has been supporting Oliver since his family launched a campaign to raise £150,000 for treatment he could need if his condition worsens and wants to help them get closer to the target.

Thierry has been offered a place on the International Student Programme with the South Australia Performing Arts Company and needs £3,000 to realise her dream.

Courtney is a promising show-jumper and is trying to raise the funds to continue her training.

The fundraiser will take place at the Leysdown Bootfair ground in Leysdown Road from 11am until 6pm.

There’s plenty of fun planned including horse and pony rides, police army vehicles, exotic pet show, dog show, face-painting, beer tent and much more.

It costs £1 entry for cars and 50p for those on foot and there’s still space to book stalls.

Mrs Chetwynd said: “I don’t believe any child should not be able to do something positive just because of money.

“Thierry wants to come back and teach dance to children in wheelchairs and Courtney wants to represent her country and bring home a gold medal.

“Oliver does something amazing every day, every day he fights that battle with the disease.”
