How long is it since you’ve enjoyed a good belly laugh while looking at seaside post cards?

The lurid-coloured, crudely-captioned gems seem to have disappeared from the racks to be replaced with safe, staid views.

Dennis J Smith has a collection of original cards dating back to the 1930s he is willing to share with us so that once more we can snigger at the double entrendes, big-bottomed, amply-bosomed women and weedy, down-trodden men.

Nobody can possibly take offence at the humour or think they are sexist.

They’re just enough to turn a droopy mouth from “20 past eight” expression to a smiley “10 to 2”.
