EGGS and tomatoes were thrown at swimmers and staff at Sheerness pool on Hallowe'en. The manager of the pool was also spat at by a yob who entered the building on Friday night.

Staff, who said it was just the latest in a string of problems with youths outside the pool, pressed the panic alarm to summon the police.

A 17-year-old was arrested on suspicion of common assault and criminal damage but was released with a caution.

The arrest was part of an operation by Swale Police's Island Task Force to combat vandalism and disorder during half term and particularly on Hallowe'en.

In another incident, a 12-year-old Sheerness boy wearing a Hallowe'en mask was arrested and released on bail after robbing a 13-year-old boy of £4.40.

The boy had been sent to the Co-op store in the High Street and was walking along a nearby alley at 6.30pm on Friday when he was threatened by a boy with a penknife.

Police are keen to talk to people in the High Street and Trinity Road car park who may have witnessed the robbery.

Also on Hallowe'en, passengers in a van discarded eggs after spotting police carrying out high-visibility patrols and stop checks while eggs and flour were confiscated from a group of youths in Rushenden.
