A Sheerness woman is taking the bald step of having her head shaved to raise money for two charities.

Michelle Murphy, of St Agnes Gardens, plans to go under the clippers as soon as she manages to raise £500 in sponsorship.

The 46-year-old is friends with the organising committee of the Sunset Seaside Stroll, which took place on Saturday, and wants to contribute something to the fundraiser for Cancer Research UK.

The mother of three suffers from Lupus and also wants to raise awareness of the disease, so some of the money will be going to St Thomas’ Lupus Trust.

The cuttings from her hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which makes real-hair wigs for children who have lost their own through cancer treatment.

Sponsorship forms are available at John Setterfield greengrocers and the Beano Cafe, both in Sheerness High Street.
