Sheerness High Street is to be closed to traffic on Wednesday night for carriageway repairs.

Kent County Council engineers will be working on the road from 7.30pm until 6am the following morning.

Motorists will be told to use the Millennium Way instead.

The High Street will closed between the clock tower and Beach Street.

Recent flooding

That stretch of road has suffered from flooding recently during heavy rain forcing shoppers to dodge huge puddles.

The Sheerness Town Team has also reported subsiding cobblestones near the clock tower and a broken drain outside the former Store Twenty One shop.
