Firefighters were called to help free a horse which was stuck in the mud.

The animal, called Star, became trapped in a ditch in Power Station Road in Minster on Sea shortly after 10am yesterday.

The animal rescue unit spent two and a half hours at the scene of the rescue, where they used a special crane to lift the horse out after it had been sedated by a vet.

Once it had been placed back on land, the horse was released and helped to stand before being handed back to owner and vet for further assessment.

Crews left the scene at 12.30pm.
