A well-known fundraiser is preparing to take on a 54-mile cycle ride for charity.

Chairman of the Sheerness Royal British Legion Ian Goodwin is doing the London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday, September 7.

It’s in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children, in Bobbing, and the 56-year-old is hoping to raise as much as possible after already exceeding his target of £200.

The ride leaves from Clapham Common and the route includes Mitcham, Chipstead, and Haywards Heath before finishing by the East Sussex seaside.

Mr Goodwin, of Marine Parade, Sheerness, said he chose the cause to support the work Demelza does to help children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

He has been training hard for the ride and says he has been doing about eight miles daily.
