Kent Police Swale has made people aware of the obstacle on its Twitter page.

The force apologised for delays from clearing a broken down vehicle at Stockbury on the A249 before saying officers were now at Cowstead Corner for the lorry, which had shed its load.

Traffic is said to be slow in the area.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 10.40am regarding a report that a lorry had shed some of its load on the Sittingbourne-bound carriageway of the A249.

"Officers are currently at the scene where one lane is closed to traffic."
