KENT Police has arrested a 23-year-old man after a pedestrian died in a hit-and-run.

The driver of a white Ford Transit van failed to stop at the scene of the crash on Marine Parade, Sheerness, at about 3.10am on Sunday.

The suspect is being questioned at a police station in connection with the tragedy.

The male pedestrian is not being identified until all his close relatives have been informed.

The road was closed while police crash investigators looked for clues.
