Man arrested for bungled raid

Burglars left the Minster Co-op safe in the road after it fell from the trolley used to transport it

A man has been arrested in connection with the bungled raid at Minster Co-op.

Police are still following up a number of leads.

The attempted burglary of the shop in Queen’s Road happened at around 2.30am on Monday.

Officers arrested a 20-year-old for conspiracy to commit burglary.

He has been released on bail until November 4.

Burglars were forced to leave the store’s safe at the scene, after it was believed to have fallen off a trolley into the road.

It is thought they were unable to lift it back on again.

Police believe the offenders left the scene on foot.
