Sheerness High Street glassing: man, 22, arrested

Police have revealed they arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with a town centre horror attack.

A 24-year-old Minster resident suffered "life-changing injuries" after it is believed he was assaulted with a glass or bottle.

The incident took place in High Street, Sheerness, around 2am on August 27 and led to the area being cordoned off for more than nine hours.

Police have responded to thousands of incidents since January

The arrested man, who is believed to be from the town, was detained on Tuesday and questioned on suspicion of assault

He has now been bailed until November 9. Police say inquiries continue.

Officers previously said they were looking for two men in connection with the incident, which happened at the train station end of the street.

They were reportedly part of a larger group of people including another man and five women.
