Police make drug arrests in New Street and Queensway, Sheerness

Eight men have been arrested in police raids aimed at tackling the supply of heroin and cocaine.

Officers using a battering ram burst into properties in New Street and Queensway, Sheerness.

Members of the police's Operation Jupiter team carried out search warrants as part of an investigation into an organised crime network with links to Liverpool.

Police arrested suspects in Sheerness

The suspects, who were all arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, are aged between 22 and 36.

They were taken into custody last Wednesday and have since been bailed, pending further inquiries until August 30.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Kevin Downard says the arrests followed months of intelligence-led policing.

He said: "Our efforts to combat drugs throughout north Kent continue and I am confident these actions send strong message to criminals.

"Those responsible for the misery and destruction of lives connected to the supply of class A drugs will be arrested, charged and put before the courts."
