A motorcyclist died in a crash on the Isle of Sheppey this morning.

A purple Honda NES motorbike and a blue Honda CR-V car were involved in a collision in Main Road, Queenborough, at 10.35am.

The accident happened outside the Borough Hall near the Sheppey ambulance station. The 31-year-old was trapped under the car and had to be freed by firefighters.

Main Road, Queenborough, was closed off following the accident

A wall outside a semi-detached property was also partly demolished in the accident.

A nearby resident, whose house is metres away from the accident spot, said: "I didn't hear the crash, but it looked really, really bad. Police and fire officers were here for ages."

Sheppey fire station watch manager Tony Fox said two pumps from the Island and one from Sittingbourne attended the incident.

When they got there they began emergency first aid - helped by a member of the public who had stopped and was working to keep the motorcyclist's head still.

Ambulance crews helped with first aid while other firefighters worked to lift the car off his body.

The man, whose name has not been released, suffered multiple injuries. His next-of-kin has been informed. The road was fully reopened by 3.25pm.
