A pensioner got the shock of her life when she tripped backwards over a sandbag on the pavement and then fell over a garden wall.

Audrey Fox, 75, of Vincent Court, Sheerness, was walking along High Street, Sheerness, when it happened opposite the new health centre which is nearing completion.

She said the sandbag had been on the pavement for several months but had now been removed.

Mrs Fox, who is known as Midge to her friends, added: “I tripped because a cyclist was riding on the pavement and he suddenly swept past me. I am pleased to say though that he stopped and helped me up after a fell over the wall with my legs in the air.

“But I was lucky just to have cuts and grazes to my arm.

My husband Aubrey rang the borough council as soon as we got home and the sandbag was quickly removed.”
