This year is the 40th anniversary of the greatest TV comedy stunt ever staged at Sheerness beach.

It involved Michael Crawford in the guise of one-man walking disaster Frank Spencer driving off the town’s jetty and into the sea.

The scene formed part of a Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em 1975 Christmas special and has been repeated many times since.
