Love is still in the air for Sheppey’s most romantic duo –in fact, it has stepped up a gear.

Sonya Anderson and Kevin Wilson are celebrating their first Valentine’s Day as an engaged couple.

Kevin proposed to his girlfriend on her 50th birthday, in October.

They have been together for five years and, in 2010, won the Times Guardian’s competition to find Sheppey’s most romantic pair.

He popped the question at home in Briton Court, Sheerness, after they had been out for dinner.

Sonya said she was completely taken by surprise but, of course, said yes to Kevin, 40, who is a volunteer at St George’s Computer and Resource Centre in Sheerness.

“I was so over the moon,” she said. “We are still very much in love – I wouldn’t change him for the world. My mum met him for the first time and said she’s never seen me so happy.”

The couple have not set a date as they have lots of other family weddings to save up for first and said they would be spending tonight at home with a nice dinner and a film.
