A new art and nature trail is being launched on Sheppey.

The Sheppey Matters project, at Barton's Point Coastal Park, off Marine Parade, Sheerness, is part of Visit Kent's Big Weekend festival which seeks to promote popular attractions and hidden gems across the county.

Artists and volunteers from the Island have produced a route for visitors to follow along with signs to identify historic sites and wildlife.

Those who take part are advised to come "suitably clad" in a warm coat and boots or wellies.

The trail will be unveiled at midday on Saturday by MP Gordon Henderson.

Free refreshments will be provided by the Boathouse Cafe.
