A family escaped injury but lost their pet dog in a fire at their house.

It happened at 7.15pm yesterday (Wednesday) at the terraced property in Manor Road, Queenborough.

The fire was on the first floor of the house, and it is being treated as suspicious and investigated by police.

Two crews from Sheerness and one from Queenborough went into the house with breathing apparatus on.

Crews tried to resuscitate the dog with oxygen, but it died.

They were at the scene for about an hour and all the family were accounted for.
