VIDEO: Police chase motorist who failed to stop in Sheerness

A man has been arrested following a dramatic car chase which took place on Sheppey this afternoon after police pursued a car which failed to stop for officers.

Witnesses report seeing multiple police vehicles, a police motorbike and a helicopter following a grey BMW at high speed on Marine Parade, Sheerness, shortly after 12.30pm.

The driver was seen heading towards Minster.

It failed to stop in Richmond Street, Sheerness.

Police have confirmed the BMW was stopped in St Helen's Road at 12.47pm.

A 24-year-old man from Sheerness was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and possessing cannabis with intent to supply.

They were walking down Marine Parade, Sheerness, towards the High Street.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said crews had not been called to this but the National Police Air Service assisted.

The man remains in custody and inquiries are ongoing.
