Police close St George's Avenue in Sheerness to assist paramedics with medical emergency

Police closed off a busy road in Sheerness this morning to assist paramedics with a medical emergency.

Three ambulances and an ambulance car were called to an address in St George's Avenue shortly before 9am.

The incident occurred near to the St George's Medical Centre.

It is not yet known what happened but witnesses reported seeing a woman lying on the ground.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 8.57am to assist South East Coast Ambulance Service with a medical incident in St George’s Avenue, Sheerness.

"Officers attended and closed the road to allow ambulance staff to carry out their duties.

Three ambulances and an ambulance car were at the scene

"There were no offences reported and no suspicious circumstances."

The road has since been reopened.
