Police called to incident near Beach Street, Sheerness

Five men have been arrested following a disturbance near Beach Street in Sheerness.

Police were called to the scene at around 2.50pm

A spokesman confirmed an investigation was underway.

Police were spotted searching in a bush near the Swale campus of Canterbury College at just after 4pm.

Six police vehicles including a dog unit and van were stationed all around the area, including outside Sheerness train station, by McDonalds and down Beach Street.

Eyewitnesses saw a team of officers using a dog to search in a bush, before teams moved towards Beach Street where it is understood one of the men involved was taken into custody.

It is believed officers may have been searching for a discarded weapon.
