A man has been arrested on suspicion of making death threats after police closed a section of Queenborough High Street last night.

Officers were called at about 5.40pm following reports of concern for the welfare of someone at an address.

Kent Police said a 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and remains in police custody.

The road was shut from its junctions with South Street and West Street, but the cordon was later reduced to the area near Holy Trinity Church.

Officers were still at the scene and were seen knocking on doors at around 9pm.

A police dog was spotted and rumours on social media suggested there might have been an armed response at the early stages of the incident.
