Police are searching for two teenagers who robbed a Sheerness bank of thousands of pounds.

A Securicor driver was targeted by one of the men as she handed over money to a cashier at Lloyds bank in High Street, just before 1pm.

He pushed the woman and grabbed the bag of cash before heading out the back exit. No weapons were used.

It is believed the man had an accomplice and got into an old black BMW.

The police helicopter was scrambled and could be seen hovering over Sheerness for about an hour searching for the robbers.

One witness, Julie Jarvis, said she had gone into town on a work errand when she was speaking to a friend and saw the bank door closed.

She noticed an elderly woman, who looked shaken, and who said she had been in the bank at the time.

Ms Jarvis said: "She said she saw two guys run in to the bank, cosh the security guard, who was a female on her own, and then snatch the cash tin."

The main offender is around 5ft2 in, white, of slim build, with a shaven head, in his late teens, wearing dark jeans, a grey hoody and a blue beanie hat.
