A teenage girl arrested in connection with the death of a baby has been bailed.

The remains of the newborn girl were found shortly before 1pm on Saturday in Broadway, Sheerness.

The teenager was arrested at 2.15pm on Wednesday, and has now been bailed until mid-May.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are continuing to ensure the girl is receiving the appropriate support in relation to her welfare."

The remains were found on the green between the Roman Catholic Church and swimming pool on the seafront.

There was also evidence a small fire had been started nearby.
