Robbery at the NatWest bank in High Street, Sheerness

A robber targeted a Sheerness high street bank - escaping with a cash box.

The raid happened at NatWest at 12.15pm on Friday, when a Securicor guard was assaulted by a man who entered the bank.

He then ran from the scene with a cash box he swiped from the guard.

The offender was wearing a motorcycle helmet, a black leather jacket and grey jogging bottoms.

It is thought he was with another man who was also wearing a motorcycle helmet.

Detective Chief Inspector Nick Gossett said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to the robbery to contact the police in the first instance on 01795 419161 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
