Sheppey gets a glowing review on TV tonight (Wednesday) when QI presenter Sandi Toksvig takes Kent actress Jessica Hynes to visit Elmley National Nature Reserve.

The pair stay in the extensively converted Kings Hill farmhouse, which can sleep up to 14 people, for Extraordinary Escapes on Channel 4 at 9pm.

Sandi, who had a home across the water at Herne Bay, and Jessica are taken on a rattling tour of the 3,300 acres of marshland on a tractor trailer by Gareth Fulton who runs the reserve with his wife Georgina.

At one point Jessica turns to him and asks: "What are those big white birds called?"

"Swans," he replies.

The reserve boasts 50 species of breeding birds and is a favourite haunt of "twitchers" who seek out rare species.

Sandi is trying out the UK's "ultimate staycations" for the show which also takes in a luxurious windmill hideaway at Benenden as the pair explore the Garden of England.

It will make a pleasant change from Monday when the Island was featured in a totally different kind of documentary called Undercover Police: Hunting Paedophiles.
