Archery, fencing and freerunning are some of the activities being organised to get children off the sofa during the holidays.

Sheppey Youth Action’s Sheppey Splash Summer Scheme for nine- to 14-year-olds runs until August 14 at St Edward’s Catholic Primary School, New Road, Sheerness.

Youngsters took part in football, dodgeball and art on Monday.

The initiative received charity funding to keep the price down to £5 per child a day, and Tesco and Morrisons donated refreshments.

Community youth manager Sharon McNaboe said: “We have done this now for 14 years and it’s all to stop the children getting bored and have some fun, make new friends, and learn new skills.”

Places are still available.
