Several people including teenagers were injured when a brawl broke out in the clubhouse of a caravan park.

A meat cleaver and knife are reported to have been used in a large-scale fight at the Isle of Sheppey Holiday Village in the early hours of Sunday.

Kent Police said "several" revellers suffered cuts and head injuries. Some are said to have been injured with broken bottles.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said two patients - including a woman in her 30s - were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for further treatment.

Teenagers are thought to have been caught up in the fight between a large group of men in the clubhouse at the venue in Warden Bay Road, Leysdown.

"We believe other people inside the park may have information that could help us locate the offenders, so we ask anybody who could help to come forward..." - Karl Thomas

Police were called at about 1am amid a disturbance reported to involve up to 30 men.

DI Karl Thomas, from Kent Police, said: "This was a nasty incident at a peaceful holiday park.

"While we are treating this as an isolated incident, we believe other people inside the park may have information that could help us locate the offenders, so we ask anybody who could help to come forward."

A spokesman for the Isle of Sheppey Holiday Village declined to comment, but said the running of the clubhouse is leased out.

Witnesses are asked to phone police on 101, quoting reference 09-0093, or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. A 41-year-old and a 58-year-old, both from London, have been released on police bail until Friday, August 30 pending further inquiries.
