Sarah Louise Rogers, of Meyrick Road, Sheerness, admits meat thefts

A meat thief has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Sarah Louise Rogers, of Meyrick Road, Sheerness, admitted to five charges of shoplifting when she appeared before Maidstone magistrates.

The court heard how the 44-year-old stole food worth £56.04 from Sainsbury’s, Avenue of Remembrance, Sittingbourne, on March 19.

On April 10, she took meat worth £25.60 from Tesco in The Forum, Sittingbourne, items worth £118 from Morrisons, Queenborough, and meat worth £43.79 from Tesco in Crescent Road, Faversham.

She was sentenced to 120 days in prison, suspended for 12 months and must also pay £188 compensation, a £180 criminal courts charge, £85 costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
