A cabin cruiser called Sanity was towed to safety by the Sheerness lifeboat.

The RNLI's volunteer crew of the all-weather George and Ivy Swanson was called by the UK Coastguard at 8.39pm on Wednesday after a report that the eight-metre cabin cruiser had broken down and its two-man crew needed urgent assistance.

The lifeboat found the craft at anchor one mile off shore near Eastchurch Gap, Warden at 9.20pm. Both its engines were not working.

A line was attached and the boat was towed back to the all-tide landing at Queenborough and secured at 10.45pm.

The lifeboat was back on station and ready for service at 10.52pm.
