A van which has caught fire is causing traffic problems on the Sheppey Crossing.

The A249 Southbound is currently blocked with motorists queuing between the A2500 Leysdown turn off and the B2239 Sheppey Way, near the Lower Halstow turn off.

It happened at around 8.30am and police and the fire service are in attendance.

Traffic is being diverted via the Kingsferry Bridge and drivers are told to expect delays.

Emergency services have been contacted for more information.
