Sheerness: Police chase ends as van crashes into bollard

A police chase ended when a van crashed into a bollard in Sheerness this afternoon.

Officers from the Swale Community Policing Team pursued the vehicle through residential streets, including Galway Street and Clyde Street.

The driver ran off after the van hit a concrete post.

A police spokesman said a 29-year-old man had been arrested in Marine Parade, Sheerness at about 1.30pm on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving while unfit through alcohol and a number of traffic offences.

He remains in custody.
