Green-fingered residents are being urged to come forward and help build a community garden.

Staff at AmicusHorizon and some of its tenants want to start the horticultural project outside Rushenden Community House in Manor Road, Rushenden.

The aim is to grow flowers as well as vegetables in the hope that it will help to reduce food bills.

There is also a plan to build a greenhouse out of recycled plastic bottles as part of the initiative.

It is being organised by administration staff at AmicusHorizon Joe Baker and Whitney Henry.

Mr Baker said: “It’s an ongoing project. We are looking for some funding from local businesses and also local people to volunteer to help.

“Basically we are trying to get everyone in the community more involved so they can start planting and growing and be a bit more economical as well.”
