A primary school will be closed tomorrow after suffering roof damage during Sunday's stormy weather.

Children at Eastchurch St Clement in Leysdown were sent home early today as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of pupils and staff.

The school posted a message on its Facebook page tonight confirming it will not open tomorrow as Storm Gareth is likely to hinder repair work with winds of up to 60mph due to hit the county.

Eastchurch Primary School's St Clement's site will be closed tomorrow

It said: "St Clement site will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday).

"Unfortunately safety work cannot begin with high winds.

"Update will be sent tomorrow. Thank you for your support."

The school was damaged as gale force winds caused travel disruption across Kent on Sunday.
