The body of a woman discovered on a beach was that of a Sheerness woman in her 60s, it has been revealed.

Police, paramedics, firefighters and the coastguard were called to a beach in Warden Bay on Sheppey at 5.05am on Saturday.

It was later confirmed a woman had been found dead.

A police spokesman said: "The woman's next of kin have been informed."

The death is being treated as unexplained.
