A pointless Bank Holiday weekend has left Sheppey down but not out.
Boss Kevin Hake remains confident his team will fight back from two defeats against two of the Kent Invicta League’s leading clubs.
They lost 3-0 at Lydd Town on Saturday and 2-0 at home to champions Hollands & Blair on Monday.
Hake said: “It’s tougher this year compared to last but we are learning and improving.
“The league handed us a tough start, with our opening four games against top-six sides from last season. We’ve emerged from those games with a 50%-win ratio and it could have easily been 75% had we taken our chances and beaten Hollands &
Blair.
“We were playing two of the founder members of this league and they are well established. We’ve lost two games but we’re not writing off our season."
On Saturday Sheppey will be aiming to get back on track with a visit to Lewisham Borough.
