The A2 is set to close for carriageway resurfacing works this week.

From 8pm tonight the Bapchild stretch of the A2, near the Hempstead House Spa and BP petrol station, will close every night until Saturday.

The Bapchild stretch of the A2, from the bp garage, is set to close this week

There are three diversion routes available to motorists trying to navigate the area between 8pm and 5am.

The first is the M2; drivers heading from Faversham and hoping to drive through Sittingbourne, or vice versa, have been told to use the motorway instead.

More localised diversions are also available.

Those heading towards the road works should head south-west on Dully Road towards Wood Street, turn left onto Wood Street and then turn left onto Claxfield Road.

Motorists should then make a final left turn back onto London Road, the A2.
