Staplehurst Road in Sittingbourne closed after a crash involving a cyclist

Staplehurst Road was shut in Sittingbourne earlier today after a crash involving a male cyclist.

Queues built up after the accident between the A2 London Road and Hythe Road, but the road has now reopened.

The air ambulance landed near to the Sonora Fields development, but the cyclist is not thought to have life-threatening injuries.

Police were called at 7.41am and say no other vehicle was involved.

The road re-opened at around 8.45am. The cyclist has been taken to a local hospital.
