Anti-social behaviour in one of the town’s hotspots has been tackled.

The Sittingbourne Neigbourhood Team has been out and about in Murston following residents’ concerns about rowdy behaviour.

One man was arrested for a public order offence after reports from a number of residents that he was drunk and had been disturbing the peace. He was fined £80.

Another man was issued with a formal warning under the Road Traffic Act after the quad bike he was riding on in the grounds of Sittingbourne Community College was stopped by police.

He was informed that he could face prosecution and his vehicle could be seized should he ride the quad bike in this way again.

A third man was issued a £30 fine for being a pillion passenger on a motorcycle without wearing a crash helmet.

Seven youths were spoken to after reports that they were throwing stones at a house.

Their details will be passed to the community safety unit for the attention of the anti-social enforcement officer. Officers also spoke to their parents.

A number of people seen to drop litter were given the option of picking it up and disposing of it correctly or being fined. No fines were issued.
