A HUSBAND converted to bingo by his wife won more than £110,000 at the Mecca Club in Sittingbourne.

The 50-year-old, who asked for his name to be kept secret, is a regular at the club with his wife, who has played since she was 18. The couple, from Sheppey, have five children and a seven-week-old granddaughter.

Mecca customer services manager Clive Cornelius said after the win last Friday: "The man looked completely dazed when he realised how much he had won. He couldn't take it in.

"When he began to recover, he said the first thing he would buy was a people carrier car for his large family."

The full house of 42 numbers won £64 in the club, plus a regional prize of £2,144 and the national prize of £108,170.
