Burst water main on A2 in Sittingbourne threatens traffic chaos

Motorists have been warned to expect even longer delays than usual in Sittingbourne this evening after a major water main has burst.

Emergency traffic lights have been installed at the junction of the A2 Canterbury Road at its junction with Swanstree Avenue.

Engineers for Southern Water predict the delays could last a week.

Kent Highways told drivers this afternoon : "Temporary traffic lights until 23rd April at Swanstree Avenue junction for Southern Water burst water main repairs. Expect delays in the area."
