A man and a woman had a miraculous escape when their car overturned on a busy dual carriageway.

Their blue Ford flipped upside down on the Sheppey-bound carriageway of the A249 between Detling Hill and the Stockbury roundabout junction with the M2.

Police were called just after 1.30am today but say there were no injuries and no ambulance or fire crews were needed.

They taped off the car which has been left on its crushed roof at the side of the road. The contents of its boot have spilled out.

Police also received calls of a dog running loose along the carriageway.

At 10am there was a report of a dead dog causing a hazard to traffic in a live lane of the road. Police visited the area but couldn't find a body.
