M2 partially closed following crash between Sittingbourne and Faversham

Traffic is queuing and one lane is closed after a crash on the M2 coastbound.

It took place between Junction 5 A249 near the Stockbury Roundabout, in Sittingbourne, and Junction 6 for the A251 Ashford Road, in Faversham.

A car had crashed into the central reservation, meaning a lane is also closed on the opposite side.

The collision occurred shortly before 2pm today and drivers are expected to face delays.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 1.51pm on September 9 to reports that a car had collided with the central reservation between junctions 5 and 6 on the coastbound carriageway of the M2.

"Officers are currently at the scene to assist with traffic management and no injuries have been reported."
