Boy hit by car in Sittingbourne High Street

A boy has been taken to hospital after being knocked down in the street by a car.

The accident happened on Tuesday evening at 6.45pm in Sittingbourne High Street near the junction with Bell Road.

After being treated at the scene by paramedics, the child was taken to a London hospital.

His injuries were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex (KSS) said:“A helicopter was dispatched to Sittingbourne yesterday.

"Our crew arrived on scene at 7.21pm where they worked with SECAmb to help treat the patient, involved in a road traffic collision.

"They then transported the patient to a major trauma centre by land with our crew accompanying them in the ambulance to continue delivering their care en route.”

Police want to know how the accident happened and would like any witnesses to call 01795 419119, quoting reference number 28-1132.
