A COMPUTER analyst is still seriously ill in hospital after being injured in a head-on crash.

Andrew Charlesworth, 22, of Burley Road, Sittingbourne, had to be cut free by firefighters from a Ford Escort after it was involved in the accident with a lorry in Highsted Road, Sittingbourne, at about 9.40am on March 29.

Paramedics gave him oxygen, pain relief and fluids and he was strapped to a spinal board and flown to Maidstone Hospital by Kent Air Ambulance.

Mr Charlesworth's family are watching his progress at the bedside and colleagues at Swale Borough Council are also wishing him well.

A council press officer said: "Andrew is known throughout the council and is an extremely popular member of staff. The thoughts of everyone here are with Andrew and his family and we all wish him a full and speedy recovery."
