Ambulance crews were called after a van and two cars collided on the M2 this evening.

The accident happened just before 7pm on the coast-bound carriageway just after junction 5 for Sittingbourne.

The van - believed to be a flat-bed truck - had been spun by the impact so the cab faced into the oncoming traffic.

No one is thought to have been seriously injured.

Although the crashed vehicles were cleared quickly, long tailbacks built up due to the heavy rush hour traffic.

Motorists reported delays of up to half an hour.

The road is now reopen, but traffic remains heavy.
