Drivers stranded in flooding, Pett Road, Stockbury Valley, Sittingbourne

Motorists ended up stranded in broken down vehicles during flooding.

It happened yesterday in Pett Road, Stockbury Valley, Sittingbourne.

Firefighters with water rescue equipment were called to the scene at 11.53am.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said yesterday that several people were stranded but there were no reported injuries.

The road was set to be closed at the junction with the with the A249.

Leanne McMahon, KFRS group manager for community safety said: "It's really important to take care when driving in these stormy conditions. Please avoid driving or walking through flood water, it could be deeper than you think."

It comes after day of travel disruption caused by heavy downpours.
