Duke to visit science centre

VISITOR: The Duke of Kent

THE Duke of Kent will visit Kent Science Park in Sittingbourne tomorrow to formally open its conference centre.

He will also meet staff from some of the UK’s leading environmental technology and scientific research companies and see an exhibition of their work.

The Duke, who will be met by the Lord Lieutenant of Kent Allan Willett and site director Nick Sharp, will arrive by car tomorrow morning at the park in Woodstock Road.

After meeting dignitaries, including the High Sheriff of Kent James Louden, the Mayor of Swale, Cllr Colin Prescott, and local MP Derek Wyatt, the Duke will visit the computer training room which is available for on-site and off-site users.

The Duke will then go into the main conference centre to unveil a plaque and afterwards will view an exhibition prepared by some of the site’s companies..

He will then visit DNA Research Innovations which is currently developing formats for the extraction of DNA and RNA. He may also visit the Nasamax building to see the Nasamax prototype which runs on a renewable fuel produced from agricultural sources before leaving the site.
